Microfluidic chips for genotyping, gene expression and NGS library preparation

Genotyping is used to identify single nucleotide polymorphisms in specific stretches of DNA and, in contrast to whole genome sequencing, is a relatively cheap and efficient method for obtaining genetic variants at specific sites of interest using custom PCR primer sets. In addition to genotyping, the technology can also be used for quantitative analysis of gene expression of genes of interest and preparation of NGS libraries.

The heart of the technology is a microfluidic chip (plate) that has wells for samples on one side (right) and wells for essays (PCR reaction mixtures with different primers) on the other side (left). The microfluidic channels can then link each sample to each essay separately into individual reaction nanocells in the central part of the plate. Thus, using a 96x96 plate, up to 962 different PCR reactions can be prepared in a single run of the instrument. Our portfolio includes plates for different types of analyses (genotyping, gene expression, NGS library preparation) and different sample/essay quantities. The plates are designated as IFC (integrated fluidic circuit) and the analysis is performed on the X9 instrument.
