- Automatic sample preparation system for the separation and isolation of individual cells with the following reverse transcript and nucleic acid amplification
- Prepared single-stranded templates may be used for mRNA sequencing, DNA sequencing, epigenetics or miRNA expression
- In comparison with 384 PCR format, C1 generates 24x more data
- By concentrating and automating individual steps into one device it is possible to reduce the variability caused by the classical use of different platforms for each step
- As with most Fluidigm systems, the operation of this device is based on the principle of microfluidic technology
- Instrument isolates individual cells into individual reaction chambers (IFCs)
- Optically clear IFCs allow to control individual fluorescently labeled cells under the microscope, it is possible to determine their lifetime or to follow the labeled surface markers
- Cells are then automatically lysed and processed and the template can be used for qPCR or sequencing analysis
- Entire process takes less than 4 hours
