Classic laminar boxes and PCR boxes
- Classic laminar boxes
Provide product protection (workspace) against particles, they do not protect operator or laboratory environments. Horizontal or vertical flow can be selected. These boxes are suitable for microbiological applications as well as for special applications eg. for sensitive electronics, etc. - PCR boxes
They are designed for molecular biological applications where the protection of the product (workspace) from contamination by foreign nucleic acids is needed. PCR boxes are equipped with two types of protection - disinfection of the inner surfaces of the box before work and air cleaning inside the box during work. Surfaces are normally disinfected with a direct germicide UV lamp with direct light. The air purification during the work is solved either by the so-called UV recirculation or HEPA filter, which is installed in Esco boxes. Thanks to the HEPA filter, the particles are filtered before entering the workspace, providing much higher protection against contamination than using the UV recirculation. In the case of a HEPA filter box, this is, therefore, the analog of a classic laminar box with the vertical flow.
